DESCRIPTION:\n‘Heritage Works’ at All Saints’ Challoch, celebrating the church’s architectural, spiritual, creative, and community heritage as part of the Dumfries &amp; Galloway 2026 ‘Doors Open Days’ initiative\n\n\n\nSaturday 5 September 10-4pm\n\n\n\nSpecial Guest: Louisa Ruthven, celebrated Galloway visual artist working in textiles and stitch\n\n\n\nOne of Dumfries and Galloway’s finest examples of a small Victorian house of worship, All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Challoch, is opening its doors to the public on Saturday, 5 September.\n\n\n\nHighlights of the free-of-charge-event – titled ‘Heritage Works’ – include:\n\n\n\n\nDemonstrations of textile art techniques and skills by Louisa Ruthven, demonstrations of weaving and spinning by members of the Wigtownshire Guild of Spinners, Weavers, and Dyers\n\n\n\nLocally-made craft items on display for sale, including woodwork produced by Paul Ewan, a member of the All Saints’ congregation, and pictures by Louisa Ruthven \n\n\n\nThe opportunity to view the treasures of All Saints’, including its stained-glass windows by world-renowned Victorian designer and manufacturer Charles Eamer Kempe, its hand-painted ceiling, and an historic cemetery that includes the graves of family members of the Earls of Galloway, and Commonwealth War Graves from both World Wars\n\n\n\nThe chance to meet our Priest-in-Charge the Reverend Canon Stuart Bain and members of our All Saints’ community\n\n\n\nHome-made cakes, scones, soup and rolls, and teas and coffees will be available throughout the day\n\n\n\n4pm: Service of Evensong led by the Reverend Stuart Bain\n\n\n\n\nLocation:\n\n\n\nAll Saints’ Challoch (DG8 6RB), is situated on the A714 Girvan Road, two miles north of Newton Stewart.\n\n\n\n(what3words///doctor.received.newsprint)\n\n\n\nFor further information:\n\n\n\nJulian Demetriadi, Press Officer, All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Challoch\n\n\n\nMobile: 07585 505309\n\n\n\nEmail: juliandemetriadi@gmail.com\n\n\n\n\n
